The work and services I offer arises out of my own life experiences. I’ve dedicated my career to helping others heal and recover from trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
All of my work is grounded in my own healing, as well as ongoing training as a psychotherapist seeking ways to heal and grow through the rough terrain of healing trauma and attachment wounds.. As a healed survivor who has personally taken this deep journey, I'm now a skilled and compassionate guide for those struggling to free themselves from the debilitating effects of traumatic stress.
I have been in private practice for 16 years helping people who need professional support to explore, overcome, face, or cope differently with early life trauma and attachment disruptions, that are negatively affecting their lives and the people around them. Often these include the 20% of the population that are also highly-sensitive people (HSP) that require the kind of understanding that holds space for their deep sensitivity to their emotions and often overloaded nervous systems.
Over the last ten years, I have focused exclusively on helping individuals and couples impacted by Trauma, PTSD, Complex-PTSD, Attachment Issues, and Dissociative Disorders.
My mission is to help people across the chasm of trauma to repair the experiences that disrupted their childhood, and help them feel more connected and embodied using effective and sensitive mind/body psychotherapies.
I have worked diligently to provide a framework that invites evidence-based techniques and therapies, along with those that are holistic, mind/body modalities that are also effective and potent for working with trauma and ptsd.
I'm dedicated to learning and continual growth that reflects innovative advances in psychotherapy, neuroscience and interpersonal neurobiology, while also enhanced by my clients who are courageously transforming their lives. They have been my most gifted teachers.
My background includes both formal psychotherapeutic training, body psychotherapy training and specialized trauma-focused training, along with in-depth study and practice of Eastern mindfulness (meditation and yoga) and holistic healing tools.
My clinical internship focused on parent/infant psychotherapy and working with children with prenatal, birth and attachment trauma from the earliest weeks and years of their lives. I learned to assess attachment injuries and specific therapeutic protocols to repattern bonding and attachment with babies, children, families, and adults. This was a significant part of my early clinical training which continues to inform my work.
I began post-graduate training in 1999 in a dynamic, body-centered method focused on reconciling intergenerational trauma called Somatic Archaeology.™ After becoming certified in SA, I began teaching with Ruby Gibson, the developer of this method, at Naropa University (Exploring and Healing Body Memory). I continued to study and train in a variety of other psychotherapy methods, including; Gestalt Therapy, Applied Existential Psychotherapy (AEP), EMDR, Brainspotting (BSP), Lifespan Integration, Somatic Experiencing for Eating Disorders, Ego Parts/Mode Work, IFS, DBT, Trauma-informed CBT, and MBSR.
I consider myself a lifelong learner and an avid explorer of psyche, soma and soul. The more I understand and practice in my own life, the more assurance I have that what I do is helping my clients. I've been in clinical supervision for 16 years, and do my best to attend professional conferences, workshops and trainings.
I've been blessed with the personal healing work I've experienced and with the presence of amazing therapists and healers in my life. In my own need to heal from trauma and abuse, I was open to almost anything and everything to heal. I am a survivor of PTSD and have healed and thrived as a result of integrating a variety of therapeutic modalities that I now recommend to my clients to support and smooth out their trauma-therapy work. I have done every kind of therapy that I offer, as well as used aromatherapy, smudged, soaked, chanted, moved, danced, painted, sculpted, journaled, and sweated and can share my knowledge about these healing tools with my clients who are curious and open to using them.
I love to spend quality time with my daughter and I enjoy cooking with friends, reading, the arts, being in nature and near water, and hiking in the foothills.
